Steven S. Zumdahl is a professor emeritus of chemistry at the University of Illinois. The degrees obtained are a B.S. from Wheaton College and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. For 30 years his time was spent teaching chemistry at the college level. Dan remains active in writing books from 15 chemistry textbooks, including Chemistry, Chemical Principles, Introductory Chemistry, and Chemistry: An Atoms First Approach. Not only that, he has also received various academic and pedagogic awards, such as the Catalyst Award from the Chemical Manufacturers Association and the Visiting Scientist Award from the Max Planck Institute.
The second author is Susan A. Zumdahl who is a professor emeritus of chemistry at the University of Illinois. His degrees are a B.S. from Florida State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. Besides being active as a writer, he also has an interest in chemistry education and has been involved in various projects to improve the quality of chemistry teaching and learning.
